French producer/DJ Surkin is up there with Justice & Boys Noize at the top of the dirty electro-pop hierarchy. He claimed in an interview that he “never heard of” DJs Carl Cox, Paul Van Dyk and Tiesto - at 23 years old he represents the new sound of electronic music.
You do not want to miss this one, on Wednesday, April 22nd at the legendary Infatuation party at Vessel, featuring 2-for-1 well drinks, and FREE ENTRY BEFORE 11.30pm with RSVP to surkin@hacksawent.com.
If you missed last years Love Fest Parade, the nation’s largest electronic music festival, you unfortunately missed the Solid Gold Jacuzzi float in all of it’s golden splendor. Hacksaw DJs Shane King and Morale, alongside Sleazemore, Swayzee, Nisus, and Eric Sharp, slaughtered the massive crowds, and due to the success of the parade Solid Gold Jacuzzi has become more than just a float. On April 11th the experience comes to supperclub, with LA’s Heist DJs, Rchrd Oh?!, and Cocheze joining the melee. Mark your calendars now!
This is one of our favorite music videos doing the rounds at the moment. Buraka Som Sistema featuring M.I.A. on ‘Sound of Kuduro’. Don’t miss the show on April 21 at Rickshaw Stop!
Johan from Radioclit was kind enough to send us a few remixes to share ahead of his show here in San Francisco on Friday March 27th. Pre-sale tickets are available for just $10.
Buraka Som Sistema (myspace link) have taken west-African/Angolan music and fused it with 21st century electronics and in the process created a new sound called progressive Kuduro, and a whole lot of buzz to go along with it. They have worked with M.I.A. producing the song The Sound of Kuduro, their music has been played by DJs worldwide like Simian Mobile Disco and in 2008 they won an MTV European music award for best Portuguese act.
This performance comes immediately after theirs at Coachella to mark the start of their US tour. Don’t miss out on what will be an EPIC performance that is sure to sell out.
The first dance.repeat. party featuring Nadastrom, Lazer Sword, Nisus & Sleazemore
Nadastrom make their San Francisco debut at Paradise Lounge on Friday, April 3rd.
Nadastrom (myspace link), for those of you not yet in the know, are legendary party DJ Dave Nada & Grammy-nominated sound engineer Matt Nordstrom. They were signed to the Dubsided label for a string of EPs, the first of which topped many international charts including the much-coveted Beatport no.1 download spot.
This will mark the start of a new monthly party, dance.repeat., by Hacksaw Entertainment at the Paradise Lounge. The evening will also feature a LAZER SWORD live set by LL, and DJ sets from Nisus & Sleazemore
$10 presale tickets will be available until 8pm on the night (if it doesn’t sell out first - this will be updated if it is) and then $15 on the door from 10pm. Buy presale tickets now and save.
Radioclit are bringing their unique sound to 103 Harriet, San Francisco on Friday 27th March. Supporting will be Ana Sia playing a special ragga-style set, Ghosts on Tape and Morale.
Radioclit describe their music as a blend of dirty rap, Baltimore club, British grime, funk carioca and dance-pop. They also have an impressive catalog of highly danceable, African-inspired remixes including Bonde do Role’s hit Gasolina, and DJ Mujava’s Township Funk.
Their recent EP ‘Secousse’ includes remixes by Crookers and Mumdance, and it was described by the editor of Fader magazine as ‘the best thing I’ve ever heard’.
Favorite DJ experience: An unlikely cosmic situation has arisen, where an elite group of SF electro DJs (Sleazemore, Swayzee, Nisus, Eric Sharp, Morale) and myself dress up in gold outfits with a bunch of other lunatics and jump around on a flat bed truck adorned with a gold jacuzzi and an insane amount of speakers playing the loudest, grimiest electro music currently available to tens of thousands of people. Its called the Solid Gold Jacuzzi float at Love Fest, and it’s so damn fun. Last year’s Love Fest float was such a success that we’ve decided to create a quarterly SGJ party, the first being at supperclub on April 11th, and then eventually tour the world in a solid gold jet.
One of our favorite producers in SF, Ghost on Tape is performing at Gallery Arcane this Thursday (March 5). He has sent us a teaser track from an upcoming EP for you all to enjoy. We’ll keep you posted on when and where it will be available.
Upgrade is BACK on March 14th with a killer party featuring Low B, the Philadelphia club legend who also just happens to be M.I.A.’s tour DJ. Last month’s Upgrade had a line around the block… don’t miss out on this one, 330 Ritch (map) doors at 10pm.
Tomorrow night is the 3 Year Anniversary party for Lights Down Low, an SF party staple that has continually introduced the city to some of the most cutting edge and mind blowing music from all over the world. The stacked line-up includes Dirty Bird’s Justin Martin and MIA’s tour DJ Low B, to name a few.
