Another Planet & Mezzanine are throwing quite an event on Saturday. DFA’s The Juan Maclean AND Kompakt’s The Field…
After releasing the much- anticipated ‘The Future Will Come’ (out 4/21 on DFA Records), Juan MacLean and Nancy Whang take The Juan MacLean on the road this spring. Juan, Nancy and band will be playing tracks live from ‘The Future Will Come’, which Filter magazine described as “perfectly orchestrated and directed to achieve maximum mood and dance- ability.” If the weather doesn’t make you sweat, your dance moves will.
Stockholm’s Axel Willner, aka The Field (Kompakt). After breaking out of the “boy and his laptop” mold following a tour with !!!, Willner teamed up with friends - percussionist/ bass player Dan Enqvist and multi- instrumentalist Andreas Soderstrom to see what they could accomplish playing together, which has brought a completely new depth and voracity to the music of The Field’s live performances.
Opening up the evening will be The Dirty Rotten (Shane King & Morale).
Philly’s Low B, co-founder of Hollertronix and tour DJ for M.I.A., returns to 330 Ritch for this month’s installment of Upgrade. Honor Roll’s Bay Area legend-in-the-making Trackademicks hosts the night. Residents Shane King and Swayzee do their damn thing.
Hacksaw Entertainment & Another Planet present Pretty Lights, the Colorado based beats producer, playing at The Independent on May 30th accompanied by a live drummer.

DubSpot, New York City’s electronic music production and DJ institute is coming to San Francisco to teach a weekend course on making music with Ableton Live 8 and it’s first dedicated controller, the highly anticipated Akai APC40. Dubspot is a certified Ableton training center.
There will be 2 day courses from 12pm-6pm:
Saturday May 9th at Mighty (119 Utah St.) & Sunday May 10th at Project One Gallery (251 Rhode Island St.)
Saturday covers producing music on Ableton with lectures on remixing, producing your own tracks, polishing and final mixing and finally distribution and monetizing tracks.
Sunday focuses on performing live with Ableton, including lectures on using controllers, and manipulating live instruments on the stage.
Hacksaw Entertainment, CB Records and Frite Nite are bringing the future sound of electro to Paradise Lounge on Friday May 8th.

Lazer Sword describe their music as Future Blap - Blap is a word coined by rapper E-40 for a ‘banging track’. Our good friend Beryl Fine, one of San Francisco’s most talented young photographers, is releasing her long awaited photo book entitled ‘San Francisco Bicycle Messenger’. After the huge success of a messenger calender she released last year, Fine has composed a 75 page limited release hardcover book of portraits, with a cover by Mike Giant. The opening will feature photos contained in the book, as well as music from DJ Centipede, LL Cool DJ, and Citizen Ten. Don’t miss this one…

If you missed last years Love Fest Parade, the nation’s largest electronic music festival, you unfortunately missed the Solid Gold Jacuzzi float in all of it’s golden splendor.
