Shane King profiled by SF Weekly

Posted on March 6th, 2009 7:52 pm

Shane King continues to blow up in the press with this article in SF Weekly. Here’s an excerpt:

Favorite DJ experience: An unlikely cosmic situation has arisen, where an elite group of SF electro DJs (Sleazemore, Swayzee, Nisus, Eric Sharp, Morale) and myself dress up in gold outfits with a bunch of other lunatics and jump around on a flat bed truck adorned with a gold jacuzzi and an insane amount of speakers playing the loudest, grimiest electro music currently available to tens of thousands of people. Its called the Solid Gold Jacuzzi float at Love Fest, and it’s so damn fun. Last year’s Love Fest float was such a success that we’ve decided to create a quarterly SGJ party, the first being at supperclub on April 11th, and then eventually tour the world in a solid gold jet.

** THIS SHOW IS NOW SOLD OUT ** - ARRIVE EARLY FOR THE LAST FEW TICKETS AT THE DOOR

As this event is nearly sold out, the final pre-sale tickets are now available for purchase ($30) from our Going.com ticket page.

Boys Noize at Vessel March 11 Flyer

Boys Noize is the solo project of German electro / techno producer Alex Ridha. His music, self described as “party techno”, is said to be “tailor-made for pummeling dancefloors, decimating speakers and laying waste to party venues”, and is regularly played by international heavyweights such as Erol Alkan, 2 Many DJ’s and Tiga. During his performances, Boys Noize often uses three or more CDJs, clearly displaying that his abilities as a DJ match those of his production.

Early releases from Boys Noize appeared on DJ Hell’s International DeeJay Gigolo Records, Tiga’s Turbo Records, and taste making French label Kitsuné, before his own imprint in was created in 2005, aptly titled Boysnoize Records. The record label has steadily released music from like minded artists such as The Faint, D.I.M., CLP, Mixhell, Shadowdancer, and Siriusmo, along with Ridha’s alias Puzique. Oi Oi Oi, his 2007 debut LP released on Boysnoize Records, received glowing reviews. BBC called the album “amazing”, and said Boys Noize “…made a run for dance album of the year”. The first single, “Don’t Believe The Hype”, featured two remixes by the young talented French producer Surkin.

His more than impressive remix catalogue includes Feist’s “My Moon My Man”, Bloc Party’s “Banquet”, Depeche Mode’s “Personal Jesus”, Marilyn Manson’s “Putting Holes In Happiness”, Kaiser Chiefs’ “Everyday I Love You Less And Less”, Tiga’s “Move My Body”, A-trak’s “Oh”, Cut Copy’s “Light & Music”, and most recently Royksopp’s “Happy Up Here”, among many others.

Support from Infatuation residents Sleazemore (LDL) and Rchrd Oh?! (Big Stereo), along with Shane King (Hacksaw Entertainment).

This is the 1-year anniversary of the awesome Infatuation series of parties at Vessel, where they have 2-for-1 drinks and incredible DJ lineups weekly.
